Phil Jordan

Phil Jordan is inspired by fluidity in nature and contemporary architecture. To create a contrast between these two inspirations he uses a myriad of hammering techniques. Phil favours these because he feels that they give the piece a better quality, strength and aesthetic appearance – a hand-raised piece feels much more natural to hold and has a much better weight distribution. Another technique he has explored is the fabrication of sheet silverware. This draws upon a long-standing fascination with geometry, engineering and mathematics and the ways in which these disciplines can be used to produce accurate representations of area and volume within vessels.
