| My current work is the culmination of almost thirty years of silversmithing,
producing my own designs as well as many pieces for others in the trade.
In more recent years I have concentrated on my own work and been fortunate
to win 9 awards at the Goldsmiths' Craft & Design Council Competition,
including the Jacques Cartier Memorial Award. My current work continues
on the theme of spiraling, multi textured finishes with an emphasis on both
colour and fun. |

Rebecca's pieces endeavour to be sculptural yet ultimately functional, focusing
on complexity within simplicity. Both form and function are paired down to
reveal an essential form and just an essence of a function. Display pieces for
the table that endeavour to be sculptural yet functional.
Borne of an interest in 18th and 19th Century dining table centrepieces
and the way in which they commanded attention aesthetically yet at the
same time were used practically to display fruit or flowers. Distinctive and
celebratory, they enhanced what they contained, or vice versa, whilst also
making a visual statement within their surroundings. Recent work is an
attempt at exploring boundaries, composition and negative space. How can
one object dominate a space in different ways? How can negative space be
used to create the idea of volume and 'bowl-like' spaces? |
