Rooted in the purity of natural form combined with the geometry of
engineering and architecture, the subtle curves and strong, confident forms
of Martyn Pugh's award-winning designs are underpinned by his control,
attention to detail and mastery over material.
Recently he has applied his exacting standards to the use of rare gold alloys for
large pieces and is currently working with the new precious metal Palladium.
His work can be found in 10 Downing Street, Goldsmiths' Hall and several
Livery Companies and has been shown in the Victoria & Albert Museum. |

Michael Richards is a young, innovative silversmith who is experimenting
with design in silversmithing. Michael's work crosses the boundaries
between practicality, art and design.
He likes his work to function in a more interesting way than it normally
would. He takes elements from the world around him viewing how things
operate, observing then transferring into his silverware.
This cocktail shaker is made to roll in a circle at the centre of the table combining
your drink. He has also made coffee stirrers designed with an aerofoil shape to
reduce turbulence in your cup, allowing the drink to stir for as long as possible.
New work this year includes a flavoured oil/dressing pourer, when used it forces
the oils/dressings to mix whilst being poured. |
