Georgios is a graduate of London Guildhall University in jewellery,
silversmithing and allied crafts with an MA in design creating contemporary
and sculptural silverware. |

The qualities of silver are best seen when it is hand-worked. The vessels I
make are easy on the eye, but I insist on them being held to be appreciated
fully. Here, a tactile quality is communicated through its weight, the coolness
of its touch and the silky finish I give to surfaces. For British Silver Week I am
making a small series of hand-forged flatware that will carry this tactile
quality, but reflect my interests in the history of cutlery and playfulness with
utility. Originally trained as a jeweller at Middlesex University, I have been
working solely as a silversmith for the last 10 years. My work has been
exhibited in the UK and internationally. As well as producing ‘one-off’
pieces for exhibition, I enjoy working to commission for private individuals. |
